Barbell Skull Crusher

In this video Head Coach, Adrian Ball, covers the barbell skull crusher. The barbell skull crusher is a fantastic exercise for the development of the Triceps. Whilst it might sound like a scary movement, it’s only got its name due to the position of the barbell overhead. It is performed in the same way a dumbbell skull crusher is, just with a barbell.

  1. Lie on a flat bench, holding a barbell above your shoulders with your arms straight and palms facing towards your feet. Bend your legs and place your feet on the floor.
  2. Bend the elbows to lower the weight toward the shoulders. Pause briefly, straighten both arms to extend the elbows and return to the starting position. Try to keep the shoulders locked into place, allow the triceps to do the work during this exercise.
  3. Repeat for repetitions.
